Data Recovery for Clayton and Monash Students

Clayton is about 5.5 km east of our Bentleigh East workshop. Losing a thesis, research data or a semester of assignments to a failed drive is a common reason Clayton students call us, often right before a deadline.

Laptop and MacBook Drive Failures

Most modern laptops use SSDs, which can fail suddenly without the warning noises of an old hard drive. We recover data from both, including newer MacBooks where the SSD is soldered to the logic board.

Recovering Data from a Dead MacBook

On recent MacBooks the storage is encrypted and tied to the logic board, so the drive can’t simply be removed. To get your files back, the board itself has to be brought back to life. We do this chip-level repair in-house.

Before You Bring It In

Don’t keep restarting a failing drive or run free recovery apps on it. Each attempt can reduce what we can recover. Assessment is $70, and most recoveries cost $199 to $299.
